Michael Michaud Silver Seasons starfish necklace captures the unique beauty of nature. It is in a gorgeous yellow gold color he calls yellow sand. This has also been a popular piece for cruises and weddings. The starfish is cast from bronze and than hand patinaed with gold over silver. The necklace is beaded with tiny white fresh water pearls. The necklace measures approximately 16.5” and has a yellow tone extender that expands the length of the necklace to 18”. This extender allows the necklace to work with many different types of necklines. The starfish is just under an inch across. This necklace was created in the USA by talented jewelry artist Michael Michaud as part of his Silver Seasons collection. Starfish (Asteroidea)

Particularly among the young, Starfish are the most popular creatures when you go tide pooling! They may well be the most unusual well-known creatures. They have no front or back and can move in any direction without turning. Rather than using muscles to move their hundreds of tiny legs, starfish use a complex hydraulic system to move around or cling to rocks. They can move quit gracefully across the surface.

Artist Michael Michaud was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Westport, Connecticut. He currently resides in Fairfield, CT with his wife and children. Michael studied at the Rochester Institute of Technology's prestigious school for American craftsmen, graduating in 1980. In 1991, fortunate enough to be living in the Connecticut countryside and working near New York City's flower district, Michael's love of nature began to combine with his love of jewelry. Today's collection is a combination of Michael's exceptional knowledge of jewelry making and his love of nature. He has perfected the technique of creating models from natural elements and, after models are made, manipulating these "copies of nature" into beautiful jewelry. Using bronze, sterling silver or gold and natural stones and pearls, Michael's designs have become well known for their remarkable craftsmanship and beauty.
