Capturing nature’s beauty in jewelry is artist Michael Michaud’s strong point. He has done it again capturing the unique beauty of sea shells. This necklace is based on “Les Coquilles” a shell common on British coasts. This necklace is great for anyone who loves nature, dunes, the beach, summer, simplicity, or unique handcrafted art jewelry. The necklace is cast from bronze and than patinaed with sterling silver and 24kt gold for a realistic white and golden look. In the center of this piece is a champagne colored freshwater pearl. The pendant measures approximately 1.5” long and approximately .75” wide. The chain the pendant is on measures approximately 16” and has an extender that allows the necklace to expand to 17.5”. The extender allows this pendant to work with many different styles of necklines. This necklace matches well with Michael’s Razor Shell pieces. This necklace was created in the USA by talented jewelry artist Michael Michaud as part of his Silver Seasons collection. This necklace comes with a glossy black gift box with our store label that is great for giving and storage for years to come. Les Coquilles

These shells are common on all British coasts and occur virtually everywhere inshore where favorable conditions, such as the lee of reefs, rocks and islands make for high densities known as beds. The long lasting pelagic larval stage is assumed to be transported on water currents and the shells are also found in the Mediterranean as well as North American waters. The inner surface of the shell is white with a purple tinge.

Artist Michael Michaud was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Westport, Connecticut. He currently resides in Fairfield, CT with his wife and children. Michael studied at the Rochester Institute of Technology's prestigious school for American craftsmen, graduating in 1980. In 1991, fortunate enough to be living in the Connecticut countryside and working near New York City's flower district, Michael's love of nature began to combine with his love of jewelry. Today's collection is a combination of Michael's exceptional knowledge of jewelry making and his love of nature. He has perfected the technique of creating models from natural elements and, after models are made, manipulating these "copies of nature" into beautiful jewelry. Using bronze, sterling silver or gold and natural stones and pearls, Michael's designs have become well known for their remarkable craftsmanship and beauty.
