Glassando wants to be your source for art glass jewelry. We feature pieces by selected American artists (including dichroic glass)but the majority or our pieces are Murano glass. What does Murano glass mean? Murano glass is art glass that comes from an island in the Venetian lagoon known for master glassmaking. Glass making in the area dates back to the seventh century. Glassmakers have been on the Venetian lagoon since 1291, when the Venetian republic ordered the glassmakers to move their foundries because of the fire danger to Venice's wooden buildings. Many families on Murano have been blowing glass for generations! When you buy Murano glass you can rest assured that you are getting some of the finest art glass available.

Our store also offers Baltic amber jewelry. Several styles of Baltic amber jewelry feature sterling silver. Styles include traditional cognac (brown) amber but also contain, green amber, yellow in both lemon and butter scotch amber, and cherry amber. Some of our most popular pieces include green, cognac, and yellow amber! Amber jewelry makes a great gift that will be treasured for years to come! Inlaid Baltic amber and carved Baltic amber are favorites in our Iowa City store.
